London’s Northern renegades The Lancashire Hustlers may be the capital’s best kept musical secret. Shindig! has supported the band since day one, and are now lucky enough to have them perform live at our Happening. Combining late ’60s and early ’70s mellow vibes their influences coalesce around a beguiling mixture of folk, blues and jazz topped off with a sprinkling of psych and prog. It’s intelligent, wry and ever so slightly funky and will appeal to anyone who has enjoyed the music of Pentangle, early Steely Dan, The Kinks or Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. They’re that good, and on at 2200. Before and after Shindig!’s Jon ‘Mojo’ Mills and Paul Osborne will keep the records spinning, starting mellow and getting wilder as the night progresses.
